We’re not sure about you, but with glimpses of sunshine in the forecast (or maybe we’re just that eager), all we can think about is donning our shades and hitting up the city’s top patios in the afternoons ahead. That said, we’ve come up with our list of top patio picks to help you get started on some desktop daydreaming…
Reflections at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia is set to reopen on April 1st (no joke), and we’re definitely excited to see what this year will offer. Word is they’ve made some stylish changes, have a revamped cocktail list, and a completely new menu we’ll be previewing shortly. New for this year they’re also introducing a Proposal Package in reaction to seeing several dozen proposals take place in the romantic setting last year alone.

Joe Fortes is one of our go-to favourites for catching a few post-work rays while doing some quality people watching. This is definitely on our list when it comes time for happy hour eats. They’ve got a great menu of offerings and the rooftop wraparound bar space just beckons for us to hunker down with a glass of $5 wine and unwind after a hectic day at the office.
Having recently revisited Dockside Restaurant at their Granville Island location, we were reminded of just how awesome a spot they are (not only for the food, but the view, too). Come late spring/summer they tack on an extra 100+ seats with a lounge area featuring comfy couches, fireplaces, cocktail tables and a relaxed setting overlooking False Creek.
Glowbal Group has a great collection of restaurants around town, though our favourite in terms of patios has to be The Roof at Black & Blue. It’s where all the city slickers in suits head to after the markets come to a close in YVR, so dress your best and get ready to mingle. A refined setting awaits with added ambiance thanks to outdoor fireplaces, expansive bar seating, and the steady flow of cocktails and great bites.

Lift Bar + Grill is another place to head to when in search of sun. Not only does it have an expansive rooftop deck complete with open-pit fireplace, casual lounge-style seating, and an extensive cocktail and wine list, but a stunning west coast view to boot. If the upstairs is packed, worry not – simply grab a spot on their lower deck, or score a seat anywhere in the lounge where floor to ceiling windows completely open up to the harbour outdoors. Take in the ocean view and North Shore Mountains as you watch boaters head out for adventures.
