We started off our weekend with an Italian bang and headed over the Lions Gate Bridge for the Glowbal Group’s Trattoria opening party hosted at their West Vancouver digs. Located in the recently expanded Park Royal Shopping Centre, Glowbal Group’s latest addition to their ever-expanding mix of dining destinations is a two-floor stunner that this side of the Lower Mainland needed.

With an expansive 3,650 or so square feet of space, the room (designed by BOX Interior Design) filled up quickly for a Friday night as eager VIP guests, invited media, and friends of Shannon and Emad filed in, in due course.

Trattoria Park Royal features polished concrete flooring, unique wine bottle lighting fixtures throughout, and a large central bar space accented by rustic aged wood paneling to help lend the otherwise open concept room a warm and cozy feel. A wrap-around street-level patio quickly became packed with summer-like temperatures beckoning partygoers to knock back cocktails al fresco (and there were indeed plenty of cocktails to go around).

Inside, the dining room features massive floor-to-ceiling windows offering plenty of people watching opportunities. But perhaps the crown jewel (seating wise) is Trattoria Park Royal’s rooftop patio and bar area, accessed via an elevator. A quick ride up will land you in an urban oasis of sorts; the perfect place to unwind under the sunshine after a long afternoon of shopping.

Guests at Friday’s opening party were well fed courtesy Executive Chef Jonathan Chuy, who helmed the kitchen at the original Trattoria. He’s created a menu fully stocked with casual Italian cuisine (insalata, carpaccio, burrata, pizza, pasta, and much more).

We’re looking forward to heading back to revisit Trattoria Park Royal again soon – in a less crowded state as we hear they’ll be offering weekend brunch, too.
