We’ve still got plenty of summer ahead of us, and with that comes a stack of reasons to get out and enjoy the season… be it checking out a free concert in the park, perusing a local outdoor market, sampling the latest offerings at one of the city’s newer breweries and distilleries, or heading up to Whistler to catch the tail-end of an extreme biking fest and epic (we mean epic) Cheese-Rolling Contest!
Long Table Distillery
It all starts off (at least in our books) on Friday when you ought to head down to the Long Table Distillery for their notoriously good G&T Fridays (#TGIGT is the hashtag you’ll want to search for and use). This awesome little distillery is husband-and-wife-owned and features a rotation of music, local food truck service, and plenty of fun starting at 4pm and running til 8pm each Friday.
Postmark Brewing
Not into gin? No problem. Grab a growler and head down to Postmark Brewing located on the fringes of Gastown at Railtown. It’s one of the latest breweries to open up shop in YVR and provides a pretty cool ambiance in which to enjoy one of their many sudsy creations. Stay for the evening and enjoy happy hour at Belgard Kitchen (same building) where you and a crew can tuck into a menu loaded with tasty bites.

Crankworx
Crankworx is on for its final adrenalin-pumping weekend in Whistler and is definitely worth factoring into the weekend plans. Pack your bike and hit the trails for a day, or stay the night and catch all the competitions, free concerts, and Cheese Rolling Festival where you can try your had at scoring a season pass.
Bard on the Beach
If you haven’t checked out one of Vancouver’s best kept theatrical secrets of summer, be sure to head over to Kitsilano and nab tickets to Bard on the Beach. It’s on for another month and features stellar performances of the best of Shakespeare. Select from local productions of The Tempest, Equivocation, Cymbeline and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It all takes place under a pop-up Amphitheatre featuring a stunning waterfront view at 1000 Chestnut Street.

Summer Special Series
The 4th installment of the Summer Special Series is all-but taking over Stanley Park this Sunday and definitely calls for you to beeline your way over to catch some serious tunes. Tickets are $10 ($15 at the door) and guarantee you a spot at one of the hippest, most laidback, impromptu dance parties of the season – smack in the middle of the Brockton Oval. They’ll have DJs from out of town and close to home, and good times are guaranteed… so long as you drink discreetly!
Farmers Markets
The weekend wouldn’t be complete with out paying a visit to one of the many local farmers markets around the city. Select an area and pack those reusable bags and prepare to stock up on the goods. You’ll find about a dozen different markets to choose from, so start mapping out your route here.
