This weekend, there’s plenty worth slotting into your calendar that’ll keep you close to the city. Check out our top pick of events and start planning…
North Shore Green Markets
Head over to Lonsdale Quay via Seabus Friday night, and pop by the North Shore Green Markets’ weekly Twilight offering and entertainment. Aside from 50 artisan stalls to check out and ample food trucks on site to ensure you’re well fed, this market features a beer garden and live entertainment with a killer view of the city. This week they’ll be featuring Five Star Motel and Adam Woodall on stage, and have Betty’s Vodka as well as local beer from Bridge, Green Leaf and Deep Cove breweries.

The Garden Party and Croquet Classic
Saturday, it’s all about The Garden Party and Croquet Classic taking place at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. It’s the perfect excuse to pop into your best summer dress and hit the greens (mallet in hand) for a day of champagne, mingling, and plenty of fun. Tickets are still available for $55 – but we suspect this inaugural event to sell out. You’ll have fun strolling the grounds, sipping cocktails, taking in live art, a High Tea Lunch, and more. SeaWheeze Half Marathon
It might be too late to sign up for the SeaWheeze Half Marathon, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get in on the fun. Head out to Stanley Park and cheer on the participating runners, catch a bit of free post-race yoga, and pop by the evening’s festivities as part of the Sunset Festival featuring the Colourist and Capital Cities hitting the stage live. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.
6th Annual Garlic Festival
Foodies will want to check out the 6th Annual Garlic Festival at Terra Nova Rural Park on Sunday. It features over 1,000 pounds of fresh, organically-grown garlic for sale, wood fired cob oven eats courtesy of Steveston Pizza, Earnest Ice Cream debuting their Garlic or Salted Caramel artisan ice creams, workshops, cooking demos, and live entertainment. Head out before the crowds at 10am and make it a day.
