It’s hard to believe, but we’re officially halfway through November… and (dare we say) that much closer to the holidays. With that comes another roundup of annual markets, festivals, and festive happenings – just in time for the weekend. Check out our latest picks and start packing your days ahead accordingly.
FUSE
FUSE is back with the first Friday party of the season at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This is THE place to head to if you’re looking to score a culturally cool night out that features art, music, DJ tunes, and live performances throughout the gallery and exhibition space. Friday’s party is inspired by China’s own Forbidden City and starts at 8pm sharp and goes til late.

Vancouver Jewish Film Festival
Also worth checking out this weekend is a flick or two at the Vancouver Jewish Film Festival (running now until November 13 at Fifth Avenue Cinemas). With hundreds of multi-cultural, inclusive movies to watch, this festival encourages interaction and discussion of relevant issues through some of the best independent movies. It’s worth nabbing tickets to see Hanna’s Journey and the laugh-out-loud, It Happened in Saint-Tropez.
Nomad Restaurant
Post night at the movies (or just sometime over the weekend), we suggest you pop by Nomad Restaurant, a new 75-seater that opened recently and has quite the following already. We are drooling over the open-concept space, airy design, and simple layout — refreshingly bright during the dull of winter. Co-owned by chefs Scott Swanson and Ryan Reed, their talented front-of-house team will be serving up plenty of inspired comfort food dishes perfect for the season. Get a sneak peek by following them on Instagram here (no website yet), or go in person (find them at 3950 Main Street) and tell us what you think.
Christmas Markets
Just to get you into the early holiday mood, the Artisan Christmas Craft Fair and Circle Craft Christmas Markets both take place this weekend. Head to the First Annual Artisan Christmas Market at The Warehouse and score an early start on unique gifts made by local artisans. Or, head over to the Vancouver Convention Centre and take in the offerings of hundreds of crafty creations courtesy of BC and Canadian artisans at Circle Crafts seasonal market.
If you’re still feeling in need of a little retail therapy, you’ll find it and more at the last Hawkers Market of the year on Saturday night. That’s right, this nighttime market is wrapping things up, and we think it’ll go out with a beer-infused bang (it starts at 6pm and goes until late). Expect to find plenty of local bands mixing things up, great grub, tasty brew (thanks to 33 Acres Brewing), and loads of social fun you don’t want to miss.
