Powell Street Festival
Get cultural and don’t miss this weekend’s Powell Street Festival (relocated to Alexander Street between Dunlevy and Princess). This festival is one of the oldest cultural celebrations on the coast and highlights the Japanese culture in our community with live music, performances, vendors, plenty of amazing food to sample and a sumo wrestling tournament you won’t want to miss.
Beach Time!
Don’t miss the perfect chance to hit the beach for some quality tanning time (be sure to wear your SPF!). Pack up your BBQ and grab a group of friends for a day of lazing around one of Vancouver’s many local hot spots – perfect for cooling down with a side of people watching. Our go-to favourites: Third Beach and Spanish Banks, or be a little adventurous and dare to bare it all and hit up Wreck.
Harmony Arts Festival
Head over the Lions Gate Bridge and be sure to check out this weekend’s launch of the Harmony Arts Festival on the North Shore in West Vancouver. This weekend is packed with reasons to get out and enjoy this annual food, culture, and music festival with plenty of activities guaranteed to please… Check out the late night Cinema in the Park on Friday night, catch artists at-work, shop local vendors, and kick back for some free live music coupled with a glass of wine at one of the many pop up bistros.

Pride Parade
You’d have to be pretty blind and partly deaf to not know that this weekend is all about Pride. It is the weekend where everyone lets loose and celebrates the LGBT community – with the always-popular Pride Parade taking over the city’s West End on August 3rd. Get glammed up in your most colourful gear and embrace the moment as you cheer on the many performers, partake in dance parties, and fuel up with a cold one at one of the many outdoor beer gardens.
Honda Celebration of Lights
Rounding out our list of picks, don’t miss the grand finale of the Honda Celebration of Lights at Sunset Beach, English Bay. Guaranteed this will be the place to be on Saturday night. Head down early to claim your oceanside vantage point and prepare for one spectacular display of pyrotechnics as Japan lights it up.
