The big day is almost here… and given we’re basically Northern neighbours to our Seattle friends, we’re feeling just as much of the energy and buzz as they are around this Sunday’s big game that pits the Seahawks against the Broncos. Tickets are pretty much impossible to get – so the next best thing (well, next to pre-game tailgate madness) is finding a pub or bar to take in the game.
Vancouver has no shortage of great game-watching spots pretty much meant for Super Bowl mania, and we’ve rounded up our top picks for further consideration and recommend you get their early to claim a prime seat before the party begins…

Local Public Eatery is a definite must if you’re looking for a fun, casual atmosphere on the West Side. Local’s staff is friendly, the food is solid, and they’ve got a great heated patio area with a wraparound bar that will keep you in the middle of all the action. Choose from one of their many beers available on tap, their nearly famous $4 wine, or go for their classic Caesar served in a boot. What’s more, they’ve got plenty of large flat-screen TVs around guaranteeing you won’t miss a pass.
Joey Burrard or Joey Bentall locations are both great picks when on the hunt for places to catch the Super Bowl in Vancouver. They attract a great (and good-looking) crowd, offer solid service, eats and drinks, and fill up to become pretty much party central. The fact that you’ve got two downtown locations to pick from pretty much guarantees you’ll find a seat. Both have spacious lounge areas and ample seating so crews of all sizes will find a spot.
The Red Card Sports Bar and Eatery (at the Moda Hotel) is another great space to head to come Super Bowl Sunday in Vancouver. They’re all about sports, catering to a decidedly ‘jock’ crowd you’ll find no shortage of pub-style seating and large screen TVs displaying all the action. More than a dozen beers on tap will keep you satisfied, as will a menu laden with Italian comfort food.
The Mill Bistro offers up a great North Shore view with a cozy atmosphere and plenty of seating guaranteed to keep you happy when watching the game. They’ve got a covered and heated patio, outdoor screens, and a tap beer selection that is spot-on. Let’s not forget the convenience factor: smack in the middle of downtown/Coal Harbour – so easy to get to off the Seawall. With a menu devoted to being ‘healthy pub cuisine’, you’ll feel better about not indulging in game-day fried food… it just leaves more room for that extra pint.

Craft Beer Market opened late last fall, just in time for sports season and definitely worth checking out for Super Bowl Sunday in Vancouver. Score a spot at the bar or lower lounge area – or grab a group and head upstairs to the mezzanine level (televisions abound throughout the space). On menu for game day, the chefs are throwing down a feast of chicken and rib combos paired with mac and cheese – serious comfort food. To compliment these options, they’re featuring an ‘All-American 6 Pack Sampler’ with US micro-brews. We’re thinking this could definitely become one massive party worth checking out.
