Dreading being single for Valentine’s Day? Don’t! We’ve got the best ways you can live the solo life on V-Day without having and emotional D-Day…
For those of us not yet attached to a significant other this upcoming Valentine’s Day, the annual opportunity to acknowledge the fact that you’re still embracing the single life can be a hard pill to swallow. Well, we say embrace it!
Gear up for a day or night of relishing in your own solo love-fest and put those tissues away. There are plenty of ways to partake in anti-Valentines-Day celebrations and we’ve got just the lineup for consideration. Grab a few friends and get ready to paint the town in your own shade of red.

Add a little humour to the mix and check out the 13th Annual Single Losers Anti-Valentines Comedy Massacre at the WISE Hall. YVR’s horror comic, Gerald Gerald Geraldson, is back with his own tale of a broken heart. Catch him live as he doles out the details of his latest murderous escapades, lets you in on his latest axe to grind (literally), and generally gives the finger to love. Tickets are $10.00 in advance here, or $13.00 at the door.
Grab some single friends and use Saturday as the perfect excuse to get dolled up for a night out on the town sans date. Head down to Cabana Lounge where they’re hosting the ultimate Anti-Valentines Party perfect for non-lovers. Score signature Kettle One cocktails, chocolate covered strawberries, and maybe a few new numbers while you’re at it.
Relish in your independence and get cheeky by attending the Valentine’s Day Burlesque Duos at the Rio Theatre on the February 14. We suggest you don’t wait — last year’s performance sold out and this year will likely do the same given the stellar lineup of entertainment planned. Catch some of the city’s top teasers for a wildly fun night hosted by Tyler James Nicol. For tickets, click here.

Don’t miss the return of the Vancouver TheatreSports League’s 27th Annual The Massacre Improv Festival (which runs until February 15). The collective hilarity unfolds as VTSL signature festival gets underway, pitting groups of comedians against each other in a battle for and inspired by love. Catch up-and-coming acts from talent as far away as Chicago, Santa Monica, Portland, Bellingham, and more.
