The city squeals in excitement when big-wig chefs with remarkable talent and a CV of lore open up a new joint. Naturally, that’s exactly what’s happening with Chef Bruce Woods’ new endeavour. A quick three month turnover in the St. Lawrence Market space that used to occupy Claudio Aprile’s Colborne Lane has transformed the restaurant into what’s now known simply as Woods. The former Modus chef (who also used to grace the kitchens at Brasaii and Centro) has evolved from his Italian roots and moved towards a contemporary Canadian feel with a farm-to-table ethos. Anthony Davis (Sidecar, Cowbell, The Roosevelt Room) will join Woods in the kitchen as the Chef de Cuisine.
Expect a menu filled with seasonal seafood and Canadian sourced meats and mains that vary from classic Italian comfort foods to inventive original dishes. According to Toronto Life, there will also be a bar menu that caters to post-work patrons featuring dishes from $10-15.
