We’re taking you across the globe with today’s #WTFWednesday and getting you guys a little cultured with a Persian treat. This Saffron, Rose Water and Custard Ice Cream by Effie of the Laws of Baking has us wanting to redeem all our Air Miles for a flight to Iran. This ice cream is both delightfully rich and fragrant (thanks to the rose water) and ridiculously luxurious, especially since saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world.
Though it’s not the easiest of recipes (ice cream recipes never are), it’s completely and absolutely worth the effort. Serve it in cute waffle bowls or take the traditional route and serve the ice cream between two vanilla wafers. While your guests sip on (perhaps rose water-infused) cocktails and bask in the summer heat, this Persian ice cream is the perfect dessert to top off your backyard patio party. Don’t forget to sprinkle crushed pistachios and cardamom for some serious Iranian authenticity.
