The worst thing is to be starving and to not have a nutritious and easy snack on hand. This happens to the best of us – especially on those super busy days. But it’s those times in particular when your body needs nutrient-dense, energy-boosting snacks to keep you going. It’s not always easy to find the time to prep healthy snacks during your hectic work/school week. Sometimes I leave the house at 5am and don’t return again until 8pm. The fix? Well, you want something tasty that only takes a few minutes to prepare, that you can eat with one hand (maybe while walking to the subway or your car), and that doesn’t result in a sugar crash. I’ve got you covered.
These are my top 4 healthy snacks to eat on-the-go. Bon appetit!

Apple Stack
Cut an apple into slices. I prefer green apples because they are lower GI than other types. Spread with peanut butter and sandwich them like a cookie. Just don’t go overboard on the PB! Stick to one tablespoon, and try making your own peanut butter in a food processor to cut down on sugar, bad fats, and preservatives. You can also add some muesli and raisins. Delicious!
Berry Smoothie
Put into a blender:
– ½ cup almond milk
– ½ cup greek yogurt
– 1 cup frozen mixed berries
– handful spinach
– 1 tsp raw honey
If you have one of those travel mason jars with a straw, add some ice cubes and enjoy it on the way to work or school. For an extra kick, add a shot of espresso!
Nut Butter Boat
Load some celery sticks up with nut butter (again, homemade is best!) and top with some sugar-free raisins, or even a few almonds for some crunch! SO easy to eat on the go.

Cottage Cheese With Fruit
This is super easy to whip up but you do need to keep it chilled until you are ready to eat it. Top a ½ cup of cottage cheese with a ½ cup of your favourite fruit — like bananas, mixed berries, and pomegranate. That was easy!
