International Women’s Day (IWD) is coming up on March 8th, but Toronto is showing its support for all women a little early this year. Today, Toronto will be marking its 40th International Women’s Day rally and march.
This year’s theme LIBERATION – honouring women and trans women, celebrating victories and strengthening women’s resistance on Indigenous land.
Celebrations will begin with a rally at 11 a.m. at the OISE auditorium. Then at 1 p.m., the IWD march will start and lead everyone to the end at Nathan Philips Square.

What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is a day to honour women’s achievements socially, politically, economically and culturally. Originating in the 1900’s IWD is a day that brings a call to action to various causes and advocates for equality. But most importantly IWD is a day to celebrate women from all over the world.
