With the beautifully arranged lobby entrance and the warm, inviting décor, my whimsical spa day at the Spa at Four Seasons seemed to begin as soon as I walked into the luxe Yorkville hotel. The marvelous high ceilings, clean lines, and wall-to-wall wood made it feel like I was walking through a modern art exhibit. As I passed by dbar and made my way up the stairs, I was greeted by a lovely young lady and directed towards the spa with grace and charm. I got a little peek of the gorgeous Café Boulud and continued on my way up to the 9th floor…

As soon as the elevator opened, the soothing and inviting scent of essential oils hit me – enter ‘spa mode’. I must say, the day is a bit of a blur because I don’t remember the last time I was so relaxed and calm. I literally unplugged myself from life and reality and was immersed into a world of sheer bliss and tranquility.
It was my first time with a male masseuse, and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. But once I met the gracious young gentleman who was responsible for relieving my stress, I let my inhibitions float away. I got into my plush robe… yes, naked… I enjoyed some soothing tea on the most comfortable lounge chair/bed and filled out a form requesting the type of music I would like, the level of pressure for my massage, and some more questions about customizing my massage to suit my needs.

The aromatherapy message was exactly what I needed and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Every single muscle, bone and ligament in my body felt relaxed and rejuvenated. The coconut scented oil he used elevated my senses and transported me a world of elation.
I felt like I was floating afterwards and said to myself, I wish this feeling could last… then I made my way to the eucalyptus-filled steam room and that feeling kept on going. My sensitive skin could only last a few minutes in the heat, but my pores and sinuses opened up and allowed me to sink even deeper into my coma of contentment – it was so purifying!

I rehydrated with some fruit-infused water and read a magazine, still unplugged from the world, before taking my time to shower and pamper myself. The organic products that were available were the highest quality of any hotel or spa I’ve ever been to. Feeling refreshed and still more relaxed than ever, I made my way to the lounge… still robed… and enjoyed some tea, fruits, and biscuits.
In slow motion, I got dressed and made my way out. The last thing I wanted to do was leave, but coming back to reality was an unfortunate inevitability. I went about the remainder of my day in complete Zen mode. Ladies, tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your significant others to stop buying you jewellery, clothes and trinkets; a proper day at the Spa at Four Seasons is all a woman really needs – and after all, we deserve it!
