It’s no surprise when an airline loses your baggage but what if they lost your autistic son? Well this fear became a reality for FASHION Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Bernadette Morra, on January 9th. As her son was travelling back to his special education school in New York State with Air Canada’s “special assistance” program, he was left alone in the airport without an agent to accompany him.

“Air Canada Lost My Son”
Morra sends her son to a a special education school in New York because she wants him to have the chance of getting the most out of his life. Although the school is far away, she puts trust in professionals to keep her son safe but was let down with Air Canada this weekend.

When her son arrived to EWR, he was seen looking lost holding his passport and a form that the Air Canada agent was supposed to sign by the person picking him up. Instead, the form was not signed and a random stranger asked if he needed help. When Morra called to complain she was told “that’s bad” by a woman on the Air Canada medical desk, to which she replied “It’s not just bad, it’s DANGEROUS! Anybody could have said ‘come with me’ and he would have gone.”
After filing a complaint, Air Canada apologized for the poor impression and will credit her $200 for the trouble. Is that really enough for putting a vulnerable person they were supposed to look after in jeopardy?
