The King Street Food Company is responsible for some of the most popular restaurants in the city, from La Banane to Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse to Michelin-recommended Buca. Now, the group is responsible for a new restaurant, Cucina Buca, that is serving up beloved, traditional Italian cuisine in an elegant, modern environment. Of course, diners can expect the same high standards of excellence that they’ve come to know from Buca, but in a brand new neighbourhood: Rosedale.
About Cucina Buca
Like Buca, Cucina Buca offers Italian favourites in a trendy space. King Street Food Company‘s most recent venture opened in early December, and is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is closed for the holidays but, in the new year, guests can expect dishes crafted with fine quality Italian- and locally-sourced ingredients.
The menu is designed with sharing in mind, with menu options including the mouthwatering Focaccia di Recco, an incredible dish that’s a hidden secret from Italy’s northern coast. It’s made of a soft-cheese-filled, extremely thin focaccia bread, and the recipe took a whopping four years to perfect. It meets other dishes like the hand-cut Pasta al Burro, which is topped with a butter sauce that’s fermented in house, and soft-serve gelato for dessert.

According to an Instagram post, “Cucina Buca is a modern classic built on the perfect balance of old world and new.” The two-storey space was designed by Constantino Design Studio, and showcases huge windows, high ceilings, and a second-level mezzanine that offers view of the terrazzo flooring below. It’s complete with ultra-modern curved architecture and natural white oak finishes, creating a space with clean lines and a luxury feel.
Cucina Buca’s general manager, Emanuele De Donno, has been a fixture in Toronto’s dining scene for over 10 years, and will be responsible for executing Buca’s high standards for hospitality.
