If you can believe it, we were so busy these past few weeks we utterly forgot to check out the winners of the annual Canada’s Best New Restaurants presented by enRoute. (For shame, we know, but dudes we were totes running on empty leading up to DFS.) S’all good though, because we finally hunkered down to check out who gained enRoute’s coveted crown…
Bar Isabel takes top spot as Grant van Gameren’s tapas-fuelled restaurant triggered a resurgence in the city of Spanish cuisine. (You should probably check out why we love this spot.) Momofuku Shoto comes in second place, proving that fine dining definitely isn’t dead. And Toronto’s Electric Mud BBQ rounds out the top 10, giving comfort food its just rewards.
As for the People’s Choice Awards, none other than Vij’s Railway Express – the cool spot procured by Vancouver master of cuisine, Vikram Vij – nabbed up the honours. Go Vij, go!
