Now that we can hopefully say lockdowns are officially behind us, it’s time to get back to normal life. You can’t live a ‘normal’ Toronto life without a night out to King West every once in a while though, right? If you’re looking for a new spot to call your usual hub, you may want to consider this new restaurant, bar and variety theatre that took over the former Goldie location.

The Hartly
Formerly Goldie, a new bar has taken over and is ready to shine. With no affiliation to the old brand, The Hartly is not only a bar, but also a restaurant and variety theatre spot. Dinner AND a show, does it get any better than that?
“My names is Josh Herman an owner from Daisy, and of the new ownership group of The Hartly. Apparently, the Goldie ownership group was broken up when it closed. When we took over we weren’t interested to keep the brand. We revamped the whole place with Chef Daniel Ken (previously with Blowfish and Lavelle). The downstairs is all we’ve opened up so far, it features a restaurant / lounge with a Variety theatre and burlesque shows. We’ve built out a stage, changed fixtures, and added a 25 person communal table that doubles as a runway for entertainment. We’ve redesigned the whole space with a new footprint and functionality.” says Josh Herman.
If you’re interested in visiting the new spot, they are open Mon – Sat from 6pm – Late and you can make a reservation here.
The Menu
Curious about the menu? The Hartly has everything from cocktails, hot and cold shares, salads, main dishes and even dessert! Their unique cocktails include a “Matcha White Rabbit” which consists of Blanco tequila, Licor 43, matcha coconut cream, tapioca pearls 1.5 oz as well as an Umami Caesar which consists of your own choice of spirit, kimchi Clamato, umami bitters and togarashi 1.5 oz. Cold shares include oysters, salmon tartare and crispy rice and hot shares include fried chicken, mac n cheese and truffle fries. If you’re hungry for something bigger you can choose between the short ribs, branzino or momotaro rigatoni and finish it off with a lava cake!
