Sure, we might not write in-depth cultural critiques of everything that makes a splash on pop culture’s radar every week, but that doesn’t mean we’re not talking about it around the Vv Magazine office watercooler. That’s why, every Friday, Vv Magazine’s editors roundup the stuff we loved, hated, debated, and obsessed over during the week that was with Vv’s Over-rated/Under-rated. We’re not ashamed to admit that we do more than just keep up with the Kardashians — we have office polls on what everyone from Bruce Jenner and Kate Middleton to Marc Jacobs and Justin Trudeau will do next…
Under-rated: Launch of Starbucks delivery via smartphones
Sure, it’ll launch first in Seattle and New York before it gets the go-ahead anywhere else (i.e. Canada), but we’re one step closer to never having to hear another human order a “Venti Iced Peppermint Non-Fat White Chocolate Mocha” like it’s an extension of their “funky” character.

Over-rated: Dolce & Gabbana’s CNN “apology”
Sure, they had no problem being specific when describing their views against gay couples using “rented wombs” to have “synthetic children,” but after a backlash pioneered by Elton John led to #boycottdolcegabbana trending on Twitter, the designer duo went to, um, CNN to try to diffuse the situation. When asked if he was for or against IVF, Dolce spouted off wishy-washy nonsense that belittled the important modern-day family topic: “I think today we don’t support [or] not support. You think what you think. Basta! We love gay couples, we love gay adoption, we love everything.” Everything? Are you sure? What about paying your taxes? Or was that just a 2013 fad?

Under-rated: Ashley Judd was on the receiving end of hateful, mysogynistic comments after she tweeted that she thought the Arkansas Razorbacks were “playing dirty” against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Judd took action, retweeting examples of the demeaning Twitter responses she got for voicing her opinions on sports, as well as the handles of the Twitter users who sent the messages. The actress tweeted from her handle @AshleyJudd:

“When I express a stout opinion during #MarchMadness I am called a whore, c—, threatened with sexual violence. Not okay.”
AND
“I am sorry to retweet but this is a typical example. “@Leeroy_MAX:
.@AshleyJudd Go suck on Cal’s two inch dick ye Bitch whore.”
We love a woman who stands up against gender-based harassment online. Judd’s been vocal about the responsibility we all have to speak out against online bullying in general, and she’s already confirmed that she’s also pursuing legal action. Boom.
