Check in every Wednesday for the latest from Scene & Heard!
It’s World MasterCard Fashion Week here in Toronto, so we’ve got plenty of industry news but — first — let’s begin in high fashion on west coast…
We called it before Vogue #JustSayin #ScenestersWereFirst
Juice Factor: 10 on 10
Way back in early February, we told you — despite how crazy it sounded — that Justin Bieber was surprisingly the most cutting-edge fashionista at New York Fashion Week, taking risks in red leather, rocking teen stash, and being refreshingly laidback on the party scene. Now, Anna Wintour has followed suit, crowning Justin and his famous friends Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Ansel Elgort, and Dylan and Hopper Penn the “it crowd of 2015” in the upcoming April 2015 issue of Vogue. The fashion bible has labeled the #selfie circle the “Instagram aristocracy” and hired the amazing Mario Testino to shoot them on location in LA (Vogue‘s recent more frequent use of free social media-sourced photos in lieu of original photography has made industry insiders question whether the publication’s trendsetting days are over. Again, we’d like to point out that we called the Biebs the “it” style icon of early 2015, so there’s that…).
Calvin Klein drops new hint Kendall Jenner is new face of underwear line
Juice factor: 9 on 10
Kendall Jenner’s been leaving “cryptic” Instagram suggestions she’s the new female face (and behind) of Calvin Klein Underwear for quite some time in the form of #belfies in which he model sports the brand. Now we’ve got further evidence that she’s taking over where Lara Stone left off, meaning she’ll likely star with bud Justin Bieber in an upcoming ad. Calvin Klein tweeted an image from Vogue giving a shoutout to both brand ambassador Bieber and Kendall. It’s not official, but it’s sayin’ something. Quick, count how many Calvin Klein ads are in the April issue of Vogue for further evidence (as in Vogue makes JB and Kendall the official King and Queen of the “Instagram aristocracy” first, and then Calvin Klein just “happens” to follow suit with the ad campaign). Yes, it looks like JB and KJ are the Marky Mark and Kate Moss of the millennials — whether you like it or not.

111 by Parloque bows out..
Juice factor: 9 on 10
If you’ve been to the uber hip boutique Parloque at Queen West and Dovercourt, you probably know their owner had big plans to make her World MasterCard Fashion Week debut this week with her new line 111 by Paraloque. We expected it to be one of our highlights, but then…
Joe Fresh aka Joe Mimran is the George Clooney of World MasterCard Fashion Week
Juice factor: 8 on 10
We definitely feel the need to reiterate, we were the first to give you the insider dish, six weeks ago, on Joe Mimram’s sudden departure from the international clothing label he established, Joe Fresh. He looks like he’s still enjoying fashion from the front row though — sitting in prime seating Monday night at his wife Kimberly Newport-Mimran’s opening night show for Pink Tartan at World MasterCard Fashion Week. Mark our words: he’s probably got another Club Monaco up his sleeve. We’re actually excited to see him as the new dragon on CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

Iggy Azalea got an express boob job
Juice factor: 10 on 10
Just in case you ever want to get a boob job but don’t wanna miss a weekend of dancing or a single Zumba class, you can now get an express boob job that gets you back on your feet but with more boob for your buck. Iggy Azalea got one four months ago and apparently none of us noticed. With body image an all-important topic making the rounds on social media more than ever these days, Vogue asked the pop star what she’d change about herself if she could, and we assume the editors weren’t expecting Iggy’s response: “I did change something: Four months ago, I got bigger boobs!” she said. “I’d thought about it my entire life.” Well, at least her honesty is refreshing. Iggy also did Vogue‘s famous 73 Questions rapid-fire Q&A segment, which is maybe our favourite thing the magazine does these days.
Jon Hamm went to rehab for alcohol
Juice factor: 9 on 10
If you always thought Jon Hamm just plays a guy who drinks a lot on Mad Men, apparently his real life has a lot in common with the lifestyle and habits of his iconic character, Don Draper. Although Hamm has issued a statement asking for privacy regarding his health and recovery, we think it’s great that he isn’t excusing or denying his treatment. With his reputation for being a supreme gentleman on and off-camera in tact despite his struggles, perhaps he’ll help reduce the stigma surrounding addiction.
Scott Disick parties after rehab
Juice factor: just plain sad
Although wife Kourtney Kardashian told E! that he was doing well although not yet home after a five-day stint in rehab (30 days is usually the minimum for those taking treatment seriously, even by Hollywood standards), Scott Disick was seen and photographed partying in two different nightclubs in Costa Rica — where he cut short his time rehabilitating from alcohol addiction at the Rythmia Life Advancement Rehab Center. Scott, way to make a mockery of treatment for good peeps like Jon Hamm.

Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher are already married
Juice factor: 8 on 10
Unlike — let’s say — Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher manage to stay out of the limelight despite the actor’s high-profile divorce from Demi Moore followed by their “were they always a thing?” coupling, and even with a baby already under their belt. Is it any wonder that they managed to get hitched under-the-radar too? Mila is wearing a gold band on her wedding finger, and she only replied “maybe” when asked by talk show host James Corden if she and Ashton had indeed tied the knot. Anyone who makes Blake Lively seem like an attention-needy paparazzi courter gets an A+ in our books.
Angelina Jolie pens her own opinion piece on ovary removal surgery for the New York Times
Juice factor: She’s Angie — she’s beyond being graded.
After going into early menopause, Angelina Jolie underwent surgery last week to remove her ovaries just a few months shy of her 40th birthday this June. Though her medical decision has already led to an outpouring of social media discussions about genetics, we recommend reading the actress’s own words on her tough choice to have the operation after a cancer scare, which appeared in The New York Times on Monday.
