Serving Up Modern Chinese eats in an upscale lounge-like environment–like no other!
The King West strip is getting a little Asian inspiration with its latest addition from Chef Akira Back and Honeycomb Hospitality. Introducing Dasha, an upscale Chinese-inspired restaurant which is being called one of the chef’s most innovative restaurants to date.
Honeycomb hospitality does it again!
Not only will Dasha offer up inventive dishes that blend traditional techniques with modern flavours and an expansive cocktails list, but there are also 5 Karaoke rooms and a speakeasy bar. All the reasons to make Dasha your go to spot.
Luckily for us, we got a sneak preview of the space before it officially opened to the public.
The Eats
As Chef Akira Back says himself, “It is very exciting to launch a new concept and watch it grow almost like it’s your own child. It has been a long journey and we think King St. West is the perfect area for this concept and a winning situation. DASHA is going to set a new standard for Chinese cuisine within the city.”
Dasha’s menu will take diners on an incredible journey throughout East Asia with traditional dishes like Peking Duck, Har Gow and Spring Rolls. It will also feature more modern dishes like Black Truffle Duck and Wasabi prawns. We had a chance to sample a few of the dishes and each one is truly unique and packed with texture and flavour. With Michelin starred Chef Akira Back in the kitchen, you will not be disappointed by the selection and variety.
The Drinks
The blend of guyabano, blood orange, and cognac is a wonderful balance with the intent to create a calm restoration
to one’s body and soul. The Zen Garden is a mix of Remy Martin VSOP, Guyabano, blood orange, and rhubarb.
The Karaoke Bar
What’s a night without a little bit of karaoke? Dasha is looking to reinvent the way Torontonians experience karaoke with stylish private rooms, extravagant décor and expertly crafted cocktails to make sure you have the courage you need to get up on the mic.
There are five rooms each uniquely designed and themed by local artists and each feature a list of over 60,000 songs from different genres, so guests can sing whatever their hearts desire. Each room can accommodate up to 15 people on the premium leather couches and are available on a first come first serve basis. The karaoke experience is also available in a variety of languages including English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean.
The Vibe inside Dasha
There is no denying it, from the moment you step into Dasha’s doors, it’s as if you have been transported to a different country. No detail has been spared in the expansive space. The main dining room will make you feel like you are on the streets of Hong Kong or Shanghai with custom wall art, neon lights and a birdcage themed staircase that is truly a sight to see.
The space expands over two floors with a variety of seating styles from booths and small tables to large tables. There is a private dining room on the 2nd floor which provides an incredible view of the entire restaurant for all your special occasions.

Overall VIBE
There was an excellent overall VIBE and it was unlike anything I have ever seen before. Brilliant! From the menu, to the drinks, to the incredible decor, topped with the excellent speakeasy bar out back (past the bathrooms), and the Karaoke rooms — which is a King West FIRST… it will not disappoint. It’s perfect for a fun night out, a date night, or even a must try hotspot for those visiting. Definitely a new highlight to the King West vibe. But be prepared to pay for what you get. 😉
