The luck of the Irish may feel a little absent this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of our St. Patrick’s Day in lockdown. There are still songs to be sung, Guinness’s to be drank and green hats to be worn! Hopefully, by next year we will be able to flock to our favourite Irish pubs in the city, but for now we must maintain our new normal. Nevertheless, we have created a list of fun activities you can do at home and around the city to keep your St. Patty’s Day as festive as can be!
Drink Like The Irish

Since we can’t make it to the pub this year I suppose we shall have to bring the pub to our homes. Gather up your favourite Irish drinks like Guinness and Jameson or put a little green food colouring in your lager. Put on some Celtic tunes and have your own Irish jig party with your bubble!

Dress Like The Irish
It’s that time of the year to break out your Kiss Me I’m Irish St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts and shamrock headbands, even if you only wear them around the house. Don yourself in head-to-toe green and have a virtual costume contest with your friends to see who would make the best leprechaun!
Plan a St. Patty’s Brunch
Despite St. Patty’s Day falling on a Wednesday this year, we can still kick off the jolly day with a family brunch. Prepare a green-themed menu with matcha pancakes, green smoothies, avocado toast and whatever else you can dye with food colouring! Break out the festive decorations and listen to an Irish fiddle.

Attend a Craft Cocktail Workshop

Join the lads and lassies at Black Creek Pioneer Village for a night of storytelling, cocktail creating and good ol’ Irish fun. Streamed virtually from the Tap Room of their historic Halfway House Inn, participants will learn how to create cocktails with recipes from the 1860s and discover more about the impact of Irish Canadians on our country. This 19+ event will be streamed at 7 pm on St. Patty’s Day. Buy your tickets here.
Make a Shamrock Shake
Despite what some Irish folks might tell you, St. Patrick’s Day CAN be celebrated without alcohol (although if you wanted to spike your shake with Bailey’s that’s totally alright with us). To make a McDonald’s dupe at home simply blend 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, equal parts milk or cream, a few drops of mint extract and green food colouring. Top with whipped cream and a cherry and cheers! Sláinte!
Bake Festive Desserts

Get out your green apron and bake some Irish themed goodies today! Whip up a batch of cupcakes and colour your icing green. Decorate with shamrock sprinkles, edible gold glitter and create your own treasure at the end of the rainbow!
