People think I’m kidding when I say I’d rather lose my wallet than my phone… but it’s actually true. I live off of my phone from banking, to emailing, to scheduling. While schlepping around a Mophie juice pack is the obvious solution, there’s only so much a gal can cram into her purse. As a food blogger, I can’t have my phone die when I’m at an event or at a restaurant. So the next time your lifeline… er… phone dies, make a book it to these restaurants where you can charge up your phone. Refuel your phone while you refuel your body, right?
The Citizen
The folks at The Citizen are true lifesavers! With charging stations all around their bar, you’ll be able to nosh on some great eats and sip on plenty of libations all while your phone resurrects from its death. Be warned though, finding an outlet on a Friday night might be somewhat of a mission, so be sure to head straight to the bar, cords (and menus) in hand. Thank you, Citizen, for juicing our stomachs and our phones!
Rock Lobster
Rock Lobster’s Leslieville and Queen West locations have paired up with Telus to have actual charging stations so you can make more room for their delicious lobster rolls, lobster poutine, lobster mac ‘n cheese… you get it, right? Lobster’s their thing. But they also make a killer steak tartare and crispy maple pork belly. Of course, you also have to order their epic Caesar… it’s garnished with – you guessed it, a lobster claw!

Portland Variety
This newish King West addition is great. If variety is the spice of life, then they’ve definitely got you covered. From your morning cappuccino to an après-work cocktail or a full-blown dinner – there isn’t really any wrong time of day to come by. I highly recommend their Smoking Gun cocktail made with a pecan-infused maple whiskey – it’s probably one of my favourite cocktails in town. If you’re staying for dinner, start with the house-made ricotta with honey served on baguette, and then order their seafood platter. You’ll even have room for dessert!
ONE Restaurant
The patio at ONE Restaurant always brings the boys and girls to the yard. Top Chef Canada judge Mark McEwan’s Yorkville haunt serves up beautifully plated dishes that taste yummy too. The menu offers up an array of choices from lettuce wraps, to sweetbreads, to butter chicken tacos. Who knows? You might even spot a celebrity… or two.
Speakeasy 21
This newly-opened watering hole has filled the void that South of Temperance left when they closed down not too long ago. It’s the type of place where you’d find the Don Draper’s of the business world — so naturally they’d have a charging station (not to mention cocktails up the yin yang). The food is not your usual after-thought grub, serving haute bar snacks such as Bulgogi tacos, pork belly skewers, and fluke ceviche.

e11even
For those of you who want to bump into your hockey-star crush, e11even is the place to go. Located in Maple Leaf Square, the restaurant is a great spot to grab pre-game dinner or post-game drinks. Feast on juicy steaks or succulent shrimp cocktail. Oh, and if you’re going to be eating ribs, you’ll need your knife and fork here… or so the menu says!
