Toronto’s culinary scene continues to get more attention this year. It’s been quite the year for restaurants in the city, with the MICHELIN Guide accolades, World’s 50 Best and others. More restaurants in the city are getting awarded for their dishes. Just recently, a famed dining establishment in the city was ranked as the second-best Italian restaurant in the world outside of Italy by 50 Top Italy.

On December 13, The Gran Galà Della Cucina Italiana event was hosted by 50 Top Italy. As the guide that represents the Made In Italy brand, it celebrates Italian restaurants both within and outside Italy. The first spot was awarded to Da Vittorio Shanghai. Any guesses on which Toronto spot got the second position?
If you said Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto, then you’d be correct. Located at 1 Harbour Square, the restaurant is run by Chef Daniele Corona. It offers guests three different types of menus to experience. This includes a signature tasting menu, a la carte and a lounge menu. The signature one also comes with premium or classic wine pairings.

It would seem like it’s been quite the year for Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto. In addition to making it to this prestigious list, the restaurant was also the recipient of a MICHELIN Star in the inaugural guide. The restaurant has other accolades, including Top 100 Restaurants in Canada – OpenTable, and Best Restaurants in Canada – Canada’s 100 Best.
