Here’s your weekly rundown of what’s hot in Vancouver…
Get ready for some Hot Art Wet City action this weekend and grab tickets to check out Friday’s comedy show, simply titled Vancouverite: A Comedy Show. Amber Harper-Young and Brent Constantine will chat about what it’s been like to adjust to life in YVR. Funny stories will be told by some of the city’s best comedic talents (Ben Mills, Brad Dorion, Jacob Samuel and more). Tickets are between $5 and $10 at the door and laughs go down at 2206 Main Street.
In keeping things funny, Saturday night you might want to consider heading over to The Imperial (319 Main Street) for some Lipservice. We’re talking about an all-out Jimmy Fallon style lip sync battle to raise funds for imagine1day (a great Vancouver-based charity). There will be plenty of hilarity (guaranteed), guest judges, and really, what can be better than a night of lip syncing, drinking and fundraising for a cause.
Don’t miss this weekend’s Sonic Boom Festival, a festival of contemporary classical music showcasing new musical works by BC composers. Alongside the performances, panel discussions will take place with experts set to speak about cutting edge topics, mixed media and more. Concerts will take place at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra with a price tag of only $20.
Get your sugar-fix and be sure to pop into PappaRoti this weekend, if you haven’t already done so. They recently opened on Robson Street after a few construction delays and it’s the first Canadian location. We’re pretty sure you’ll become a fan of their iconic caramel coffee bun and piping hot cups of java.
Saturday, be sure to check out (and celebrate) Hawkers Market’s one year anniversary. To mark the occasion, get ready to party the night away from 6pm until late with drinks served up courtesy of 33 Acres Beer, local food, DJs and dancing on the menu. Everything kicks off at East Van Studios (870 East Cordova Street).
Use this weekend to explore Commercial Drive and head to LATE NIGHTS at La Mezcaleria. One of our favourite spots for an authentic Mexican meal just got better with news that they’ll be open until 2am every Friday and Saturday with guest DJs, late night bites, and plenty of liquids to keep the party going strong. To kick off the celebrations, DJ Evo and DJ Billie Danger will be at the decks to impress.
