The listings have officially rolled-out for this year’s Dine Out Vancouver, and it’s a record number of restaurants on offer (more than 260 of them to tantalize taste buds). Whet your appetite and beeline it to your computer (wait… you’re already there!) to score tables online before they sell out. Dine Out Vancouver kicks off next weekend (the 17th) and runs through February 2nd! To help get things started, we’ve come up with a list of a few tasty sounding picks guaranteed to get your stomach growling…
Shake things up and nosh Moroccan style during Dine Out Vancouver by heading to Sol Sun Belt Cookery (100-550 Denman Street). Chef Elatouabi prides himself on sourcing the best BC has to offer, presenting his finds “with a Moroccan twist.” He’s cooked his way around the world, having spent time as the Executive Chef for His Royal Highness Moulay Rachid, the Crown Prince of Morocco. Not too shabby, indeed.

Can’t make it to the Caribbean for some respite from the rain? No problem. Spice things up and head to The Reef on Main or Commercial Drive for a hit of the tropics. Given there aren’t a lot of Caribbean style restaurants around YVR, The Reef is a tasty culinary treat that offers up something different. Be sure to order an extra round of their plantain chips, indulge in the jerk chicken, and sip their signature Demerara Swizzle.
New to the Vancouver dining scene and one that is on our culinary radar for Dine Out 2014 is Bambudda (99 Powell Street). They’ve got a well-honed menu loaded with ample samplings of Chinese-style cuisine, share plates and delectable dishes. Tuck into their roasted and pickled carrots with soy panna cotta and mandarin or crispy pork belly served with maple hoisin and braised daikon. Be sure to save room for the banana custard – it is unreal – and grab a post-dinner drink at the modern-looking bar (order the Fitzgerald).
If you’re looking for something on the casual side head to Tap & Barrel (either location) for the perfect comfort food fix. We dig the relaxed pub-style atmosphere that’s emphasized by a no-fuss take on great eats. The setting is made for larger groups, so it’s your best Dine Out Vancouer bet if heading to nosh with a larger crew (request a private dining room if you can). Try out signature items like their Phillips Blue Buck Ale and cheddar soup, T&B meatloaf, locally sourced Salt Spring Island mussels and BC Fisherman’s spaghetti, and sample your way through their custom blended selection of BC wines.
Head to Market By Jean-Georges (111 Alberni Street) tucked into the stunning and sleek Shangri-La Hotel for a taste of pure indulgence. Dine Out Vancouver lends you the opportunity (and excuse) to splurge – and we love the swanky scene of this popular spot. On their must-try for Dine Out is the Berkshire pork chop alongside the steamed mushrooms with XO chili sauce. Head there early and grab a cocktail at the bar before making your way to the table – it offers some great people watching.
